7 Ways to Help Reduce the Risk of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is one of the common cancers in women in Nigeria and it does kill, especially when diagnosed late. Breast cancer runs in some families because the genes are present in the family.

You can’t change your family history. However, you can modify certain traits to lower your chances of developing breast cancer.

There are risk factors that you can control, and there are risk factors you cannot control. There are lifestyle factors you can modify — some more easily than others. Whether you have a genetic predisposition for breast cancer, there are changes anyone can make to reduce risk of the disease.

Speak to a specialist if there is a strong family history of breast or ovarian cancer. If available, you may be offered genetic screening.
